In this case, we only need to find the starting location of George because we know the count will always remain the same. A common use of FIND is to extract the file name from an attachment in a record using a formula like this: LEFT (), 6, "Billy") If we, instead, looked for the exclamation point the formula would provide the number 13 instead. We get the number 6 because the comma in the example is the 6th character in that string of text. In this case, the FIND function will provide the following result: 6 If you wanted to find the position of the comma in that string you'd just use the FIND function like this: FIND ( ",", "Hello, world!" ) Let's begin with an example string of text to work with: Hello, world! For simplicity, we'll focus on using FIND. Aside from that, and their names, these functions are otherwise identical. This makes FIND a better candidate for most formulas because it offers a result that will prevent multi-function formulas from displaying an error. While SEARCH will only provide the character position if it finds one, FIND will provide the number zero if it finds nothing at all. The FIND and SEARCH functions locate any character in a string of text and tells you where the first occurrence exists in that string.

![]() One of the important questions that someone recently asked us was what happens if they order a holiday package for their inmate, and someone else in their family already ordered one. Also, if the facility goes on lockdown all package and mail deliveries will stop until the lockdown is lifted. During the holiday season there is a large influx of incoming mail for inmates, and each piece of mail must be inspected which can add a few days processing time. Please note it may take a few days longer for the package to be delivered within the institution depending on how busy the mail room is. Holiday packages usually take anywhere from 7-10 business days to arrive at the facility. ![]() The identification number can be found by doing a simple inmate search (found on our site) using the inmates full committed name. Some important things you will need to know before ordering is the inmate's full committed name, the inmate's location and the identification number for the inmate. It is also important to note that not all facilities participate in these holiday/quarterly package programs. ![]() All orders have an ordering cutoff date, at which time packages can no longer be ordered for an inmate. At no time can you simply buy items, put them in a box and ship them to the institution, it must come from an approved third party vendor (I will go over the different vendors below). There is a limit to the number of items that can be sent and is usually restricted to the box size or weight. These packages can contain a multitude of items from various foods and snacks, hygiene products, clothing, shoes, jewelry, electronics, games, puzzles, stationary, and even faith related items. A holiday package, sometimes referred to as a quarterly package, is a care package that is sold by an approved third party vendor that contains an assortment of items for the inmate to enjoy. During the Thanksgiving/Christmas season, we get many questions asking about the Holiday package program for inmates. Save money, consider a used processor off EBay. A home NAS or file server works just great with a Atom or Celeron processor and 2gb of ram. You can even add RAID if you want! But don’t over configure your platform. The more powerful the system the more it costs. This depends on your configuration, the upgrade can be accomplished for under $125. Your new platform will also be very small, fit just about anywhere and be super quiet. The possibilities are just about endless. Don’t like Microsoft stuff, load Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Redhat or others. You can run Server software such as Windows Home Server, Small Business Server or the new Windows Home Server 2011. New internals, new applications: Run Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 (any version including 64bit versions). This is important because parts are no longer available from HP or 3rd party sources for the Media Vault. The beauty of this new system is that you are not limited to the proprietary hardware and OS that was incorporated in the HP Media Vault 2010-2050. HP Generation 1 Media Vault and Motherboard The best part about this is that you get both options, want to remain powered on? Just modify the BIOS settings. This is important because we are going to modify the power switch on the MV to become a momentary switch and work just like the PC. In the event of a power failure or surge the PC power supply shuts down and stays off (depending on the BIOS settings) helping to protect the PC internal components from ongoing surges or brownouts. In comparison the PC has a momentary switch that starts the power supply when depressed. I believe this to be the major reason that so many Media Vault’s have failed over the years. You can just imagine when the AC power grid experiences surges spikes and brown outs. I can only assume the engineers did this because it was primarily a file server and you would want the system online in the event of a minor power hit. What does this mean? Depress the Media Vault switch, power is switched on and stays on no mater what happens to the AC power supplying the platform. ![]() HP designed the Media Vault with a locked on switch where the PC uses a momentary on switch. If any other hardware failed you were done unless you had a spare platform or special software to read the Reiser formatted disk in a PC.Īnother complication was the Media Vault’s power switch. ![]() Another issue was the Reiser file system that is not compatible or readable with a PC without special software. If a secondary drive failed it was somewhat easy to replace and restore but when the system encountered a primary drive failure special procedures were required to insure the data on the secondary drive was not destroyed. HP offered a RAID 1 “like” mirror system based on the Reiser file system which in theory was a good idea but actually created a number of complications for the user. These look like mini HP MediaSmart Servers with only 2 drives and feature a different processor and file system. 1 platform was later redesigned and updated to become the HP Media Vault 21/5200 series. One important feature was the ability to mirror it’s 2 internal SATA drives. ![]() It also provided a secure source for local PC backups and internet access. This product offered features like file sharing, media sharing (such as streaming music, videos, movies) and digital pictures. All were hardware identical except for the drive size provided. Hundreds of Free Games For Everyone to Play! ![]() This level may include introductory use of such tools as PivotTable, charting and recording macros for repetitive tasks. Such depth of understanding will come handy when implementing such things as absolute and relative referencing and when the user starts entering formulas without the formula wizard. The intermediate level of Excel skills should be where the user learns how Excel functions “think” or how they “behave” when you use them in a cell and copy/paste/drag or move them across sheets. In other words, functions are the building blocks of formulas in Excel. An Excel formula is a user defined cell entry that has at least one Excel function (could be two or more functions) to derive a result. ![]() A function is a named program that process inputs and returns a result (output) within a spreadsheet cell. It is worthy of note here that an Excel FUNCTION and an Excel FORMULA are not the same thing. This prepares users for auditing more complex use of functions in formulas such as those found in complex/compound formulas – formulas that have two or more functions. Formula Auditing is also a group in the FORMULA Tab that should be learned and used in the Intermediate level of Excel usage. The intermediate Level is a level where more on TEXT Functions, DATE Functions, LOOKUP functions and MATH functions should be learned and used. The function wizard enables basic users to understand, through use and overtime, two things: (1) The arguments/inputs that some difficult- to- comprehend functions require e.g Lookup functions and (2) The order at which arguments/inputs are entered. S/he learns and knows how to use the function wizard to enter function arguments/inputs. The intermediate Microsoft Excel user, driven by what can be done with Excel functions learned in the basic level, delves into the tools in the FORMULA tab and the function library therein. The intermediate level is the basic level plus more. This level should score at most three on an Excel Skill- Scale of one to ten. Armed with these, the basic user can do a lot in number computation, data presentation beyond static data presentation and printing. Additionally, an understanding of the spreadsheet inter-face and the ability to do subtractions, multiplications and division are inclusive in the calculation skills that a basic uses should have for use. Basic users should know how to apply these functions in formulas within spreadsheets. On functions, I accept as default, the list of functions you get when you click on the drop-down button of the auto-sum icon – SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT NUMBERS, MAX and MIN. The only permissible exceptions (just my opinion) are using formulas in conditional formats and the ARRANGE group in the Page layout tab. On a standard note, I propose that the basic skill level for Microsoft Excel should be an in-depth knowledge of three ribbons Tabs and their tools – The HOME Tab, The PAGE LAYOUT Tab and the VIEW Tab. With these tools, a user can present static data on a spreadsheet and afterwards claims that s/he uses Microsoft Excel appreciably well. The Clipboard, Font, Alignment and Number groups in the HOME tab are similar to those found in Microsoft Word. Especially for persons who may have used such application as Microsoft Word. What should define the basic level of skill in Microsoft Excel? When you first open Microsoft Excel, there are those tasks that you can do just by simply responding to the user friendly interface of the application. So is the expert level user who must have been through all it takes to be a basic user and an intermediate user. Put other ways, the intermediate level users must have acquired all the skills a basic level user should have and use. It is important to point out here that in my opinion, these levels are in a continuum and therefore, anyone claiming any of these levels implies progressive skill acquisition through the continuum. I propose four levels – the basic Level, the intermediate Level, the expert Level and the Advanced Level. In this post, I attempt to define levels of skill and the content of these levels of skill in Microsoft Excel. ![]() Yet, work organizations keep seeking ways to determine the level of skill of job candidates in the application of Microsoft Excel. The definition of skill level in Microsoft Excel is still agreed by many to be relative- I inclusive. Experts in sacred geometry encourage users to follow their intuition. Unlike the Bagua, the uses of these patterns are more flexible. The flower of life is a symbol of spiritual growth and awakening while the tree of life represents spiritual transformation, strength, growth and fertility. For example, Metatron’s cube is associated with balance and harmony as well as healing and protection. Like the Bagua, the shapes in sacred geometry are believed to have specific meanings. It is believed these patterns form the basis of all life. Sacred Geometry – Another source of grids, sacred geometry is based on several repeating patterns found throughout nature. The Bagua is typically an octagon or rectangle comprised of eight outer sections surrounding a center section. Types of Gridsįeng Shui Bagua – The Feng Shui Bagua is perhaps one of the oldest and most formal types of grids. Where the rocks are placed and what rocks are used depends on the type of grid and the intended action. Whatever it is that you want to draw into your life adding rocks or crystals to the grid can enhance its effectiveness and power. Grids of any shape can be used to help attract or manifest something such as abundance or love, get rid of negativity or even manifest a calm peaceful environment. ![]() “The grid represents a community of compatible and connected energies,” says Linda Cahan of Cahan & Company in Portland, Oregon (These compatible energies can be connected through the grid of the Feng Shui Bagua (energy map) or the shapes found in sacred geometry or be created by the person making the grid. Pin this post to save this information for later. Regardless of the complexity, the foundation is the same - each type of grid has specific points of energy that are connected by invisible lines of energy. Creating one can be intricate and elaborate or simple. The process of creating and using grids is referred to as gridding. In addition to that, the simplification of experimental operations and minimizing the number of parallel determinations as well as more rational algorithm of data processing was achieved. This approach was modified with the purpose of increasing the reliability of evaluating the minimal quantities of analytes (mlim), for which one can neglect the insufficient inertness of GC systems. The previously proposed approach for controlling the inertness of gas chromatographic (GC) systems was based on the determination of peak area ratios for polar and non-polar constituents of test-solutions (Srel = Spolar/Snon-polar) for the series of samples obtained by the consequent dilutions (for the 10-times dilutions the number of samples was five). ![]() Here is the list of the cupcakes along with the calories they contain.
